Auction result misses estimated price range
When the work Jehan Mayoux, Ma Tete a Couper by Yves Tanguy was auctioned at Christies in New York in April this year, the result was somewhat disappointing. The auction house had previously given the estimated price as a range of USD 4,000.00 – 6,000.00, of which not even the lower limit was reached - in fact, the artwork changed hands for USD 2,772.00 (€ 2,510.87). Of course, this price has nothing to do with the top prices that other works by Yves Tanguy achieve. The highest price we have observed so far was reached by the work L’Extinction des espèces II in June 2019 with an auction result of GBP 3,131,250.00 (€ 3,519,989.38).
Auktionsergebnis verfehlt die Schätzpreisspanne
Als die Arbeit Jehan Mayoux, Ma Tete a Couper von Yves Tanguy im April diesen Jahres bei Christies in New York versteigert wurde, fiel das Ergebnis ein wenig enttäuschend aus. Das Auktionshaus hatte den Schätzpreis zuvor mit einer Spanne von USD 4.000,00 – 6.000,00 angegeben, von der nicht einmal die Untergrenze erreicht wurde - tatsächlich wechselte das Kunstwerk für USD 2.772,00 (€ 2.510,87) den Besitzer. Dieser Preis hat freilich nichts mit den Spitzenpreisen zu tun, die andere Arbeiten von Yves Tanguy erzielen. Den höchsten von uns bisher beobachteten Preis erreichte die Arbeit L’Extinction des espèces II im Juni 2019 mit einem Auktionsergebnis von GBP 3.131.250,00 (€ 3.519.989,38).
