This artwork by Yokoyama Taikan achieved an unexpectedly high price at Christies in New York in March 2000. In the Japanese and Korean Art auction, the work A summer night (Natsuno ichiya) sold for USD 145,500.00 (€ 151,974.10) - well above the upper estimate of USD 60,000.00. However, buyers have had to dig much deeper into their pockets for other works by Yokoyama Taikan - we have observed the highest auction result to date for the work Miho no Fujisan (Mount Fuji from Miho), which sold at auction in November 2000 for USD 358,000.00 (€ 411,778.24).
Oberer Schätzpreis um mehr als 100% übertroffen
Dieses Kunstwerk von Yokoyama Taikan erzielte im März 2000 bei Christies in New York einen unerwartet hohen Preis. In der Auktion Japanese and Korean Art wurde die Arbeit A summer night (Natsuno ichiya) für USD 145.500,00 (€ 151.974,10) versteigert – und damit weit über dem oberen Schätzpreis von USD 60.000,00. Für andere Arbeiten von Yokoyama Taikan mussten die Käufer allerdings auch schon deutlich tiefer in die Tasche greifen – das bisher höchste Auktionsergebnis haben wir für die Arbeit Miho no Fujisan (Mount Fuji from Miho) beobachtet, die im November 2000 für USD 358.000,00 (€ 411.778,24) versteigert wurde.
