Auction result well in line with expectations
The work Bird By A Lotus Pond by Xu Wei was sold in the FINE CLASSICAL CHINESE PAINTINGS AND CALLIGRAPHY auction at Christies in Hong Kong in April 2001. The estimated price for the artwork was previously given by the auction house with a range of HKD 200,000.00 – 300,000.00, the actual price achieved of HKD 211,500.00 (€ 30,554.77) could thus just exceed the lower estimate. Of course, this price has nothing to do with the top prices that other works by Xu Wei achieve. The highest price we have observed so far was reached by the work Various Objects in October 2021 with an auction result of HKD 3,276,000.00 (€ 364,409.63).
