Auction result misses estimated price range
This work of art by Xaviera Simmons could be acquired at Sothebys in New York in March 2021 for an unexpectedly low price. In the Contemporary Art auction, the work Landscape (Two Women) changed hands for USD 2,142.00 (€ 1,824.07) - missing the lower end of the estimate range of USD 4,000.00 – 6,000.00. Admittedly, works by Xaviera Simmons have also been auctioned for a multiple of this price - according to our records, the highest result so far was achieved by the work A Country Built On Free Labor in May 2018 with an auction result of USD 20,000.00 (€ 17,137.96).
Auktionsergebnis verfehlt die Schätzpreisspanne
Dieses Kunstwerk von Xaviera Simmons konnte im März 2021 bei Sothebys in New York für einen unerwartet niedrigen Preis ersteigert werden. In der Auktion Contemporary Art wechselte die Arbeit Landscape (Two Women) für USD 2.142,00 (€ 1.824,07) den Besitzer – und verfehlte damit das untere Ende der Schätzpreisspanne von USD 4.000,00 – 6.000,00. Freilich wurden Arbeiten von Xaviera Simmons auch schon für ein Vielfaches dieses Preises versteigert – das bisher höchste Ergebnis erzielte nach unseren Aufzeichnungen die Arbeit A Country Built On Free Labor im Mai 2018 mit einem Auktionsergebnis von USD 20.000,00 (€ 17.137,96).
