Auction result well in line with expectations
The work Index Four, Composition Two by Xaviera Simmons was sold in the Contemporary Photographs auction at Sothebys in New York in October 2020. The estimated price for the artwork was previously given by the auction house with a range of USD 15,000.00 – 25,000.00, the actual price achieved of USD 15,120.00 (€ 12,981.88) could thus just exceed the lower estimate. Other works by Xaviera Simmons have already achieved higher auction prices, for example, in May 2018 the work A Country Built On Free Labor was auctioned for USD 20,000.00 (€ 17,137.96).
