Auction result well in line with expectations
The work The interior of St. Peter's, Rome by William Walcot was sold in the Victorian and Traditionalist Pictures auction at Christies in London in June 2008. The price achieved of GBP 9,375.00 (€ 11,850.31) was within expectations - the estimate range had previously been set by the auction house as GBP 8,000.00 – 12,000.00. However, buyers have had to dig much deeper into their pockets for other works by William Walcot - we have observed the highest auction result to date for the work The Etruscan Temple Of Jupiter Capitolinus, which sold at auction in March 2008 for GBP 26,900.00 (€ 33,793.07).
