In March 2008 Sothebys in London held the auction British and Continental Pictures, which included the work Hungerford Bridge by William Walcot. The result of GBP 3,000.00 (€ 3,768.74) was exactly at the lower end of the estimate range of GBP 3,000.00 – 5,000.00. Admittedly, works by William Walcot have also been auctioned for a multiple of this price - according to our records, the highest result so far was achieved by the work The Etruscan Temple Of Jupiter Capitolinus in March 2008 with an auction result of GBP 26,900.00 (€ 33,793.07).
Zuschlag beim unteren Schätzpreis
Im März 2008 führte Sothebys in London die Auktion British and Continental Pictures durch, in der auch die Arbeit Hungerford Bridge von William Walcot zur Versteigerung kam. Das dabei erzielte Ergebnis von GBP 3.000,00 (€ 3.768,74) entsprach exakt dem unteren Ende der Schätzpreisspanne von GBP 3.000,00 – 5.000,00. Freilich wurden Arbeiten von William Walcot auch schon für ein Vielfaches dieses Preises versteigert – das bisher höchste Ergebnis erzielte nach unseren Aufzeichnungen die Arbeit The Etruscan Temple Of Jupiter Capitolinus im März 2008 mit einem Auktionsergebnis von GBP 26.900,00 (€ 33.793,07).
