In March 2008 Sothebys in London held the auction British and Continental Pictures, which included the work Horse And Carriage At The Royal Exchange by William Walcot. The »bidding war« ended at GBP 6,250.00 (€ 7,851.55), 25% above the upper estimate. Admittedly, works by William Walcot have also been auctioned for a multiple of this price - according to our records, the highest result so far was achieved by the work The Etruscan Temple Of Jupiter Capitolinus in March 2008 with an auction result of GBP 26,900.00 (€ 33,793.07).
Oberer Schätzpreis um 25 % übertroffen
Im März 2008 führte Sothebys in London die Auktion British and Continental Pictures durch, in der auch die Arbeit Horse And Carriage At The Royal Exchange von William Walcot zur Versteigerung kam. Das »Bietergefecht« endete beim Preis von GBP 6.250,00 (€ 7.851,55) und damit 25% über dem oberen Schätzpreis. Freilich wurden Arbeiten von William Walcot auch schon für ein Vielfaches dieses Preises versteigert – das bisher höchste Ergebnis erzielte nach unseren Aufzeichnungen die Arbeit The Etruscan Temple Of Jupiter Capitolinus im März 2008 mit einem Auktionsergebnis von GBP 26.900,00 (€ 33.793,07).
