Auction result well in line with expectations
In October 2020 Sothebys in New York held the auction Dear Keith: Works from the Personal Collection of Keith Haring, which included the work Cat Door by William S. Burroughs. It changed hands for a price of USD 5,670.00 (€ 4,868.21) achieving a result in the upper range of the estimate price range of USD 4,000.00 – 6,000.00. Admittedly, works by William S. Burroughs have also been auctioned for a multiple of this price - according to our records, the highest result so far was achieved by the work Dezember 1955 in February 2021 with an auction result of EUR 22,500.00.
Auktionsergebnis im Rahmen der Erwartungen
Im Oktober 2020 führte Sothebys in New York die Auktion Dear Keith: Works from the Personal Collection of Keith Haring durch, in der auch die Arbeit Cat Door von William S. Burroughs zur Versteigerung kam. Dabei wechselte sie für einen Preis von USD 5.670,00 (€ 4.868,21) den Besitzer und erzielte damit ein Ergebnis im oberen Bereich der Schätzpreisspanne von USD 4.000,00 – 6.000,00. Freilich wurden Arbeiten von William S. Burroughs auch schon für ein Vielfaches dieses Preises versteigert – das bisher höchste Ergebnis erzielte nach unseren Aufzeichnungen die Arbeit Dezember 1955 im Februar 2021 mit einem Auktionsergebnis von EUR 22.500,00.
