Auction result well in line with expectations
The work Shoot Your Way To Freedom, Kid by William S. Burroughs was sold in the Dear Keith: Works from the Personal Collection of Keith Haring auction at Sothebys in New York in October 2020. The price achieved of USD 9,450.00 (€ 8,113.68) was within expectations - the estimate range had previously been set by the auction house as USD 8,000.00 – 12,000.00. However, buyers have had to dig much deeper into their pockets for other works by William S. Burroughs - we have observed the highest auction result to date for the work Dezember 1955, which sold at auction in February 2021 for EUR 22,500.00.

Burroughs wurde im Oktober 2020 in der Auktion Dear Keith: Works from the Personal Collection of Keith Haring bei Sothebys in New York versteigert. Der dabei erzielte Preis von USD 9.450,00 (€ 8.113,68) lag im Rahmen der Erwartungen – die Schätzpreisspanne war von dem Auktionshaus zuvor mit USD 8.000,00 – 12.000,00 angegeben worden. Für andere Arbeiten von William S. Burroughs mussten die Käufer allerdings auch schon deutlich tiefer in die Tasche greifen – das bisher höchste Auktionsergebnis haben wir für die Arbeit Dezember 1955 beobachtet, die im Februar 2021 für EUR 22.500,00 versteigert wurde.
