The work Portrait of the Artist's Daughter (Dorothy) by William Merritt Chase was sold in the Impressionist and Modern Art Day Sale auction at Christies in New York in November 2021. The price achieved of USD 250,000.00 (€ 221,493.75) was within expectations - the estimate range had previously been set by the auction house as USD 200,000.00 – 300,000.00. Of course, this price has nothing to do with the top prices that other works by William Merritt Chase achieve. The highest price we have observed so far was reached by the work I Think I Am Ready Now (The Mirror, The Pink Dress) in May 2008 with an auction result of USD 6,649,000.00 (€ 4,273,136.25).
