In November last year Bonhams in New York held the auction American Art, which included the work My Daughter Dorothy by William Merritt Chase. The »bidding war« ended at USD 19,125.00 (€ 18,526.59), 28% above the upper estimate. Of course, this price has nothing to do with the top prices that other works by William Merritt Chase achieve. The highest price we have observed so far was reached by the work I Think I Am Ready Now (The Mirror, The Pink Dress) in May 2008 with an auction result of USD 6,649,000.00 (€ 4,273,136.25).

Im November letzten Jahres führte Bonhams in New York die Auktion American Art durch, in der auch die Arbeit My Daughter Dorothy von William Merritt Chase zur Versteigerung kam. Das »Bietergefecht« endete beim Preis von USD 19.125,00 (€ 18.526,59) und damit 28% über dem oberen Schätzpreis. Dieser Preis hat freilich nichts mit den Spitzenpreisen zu tun, die andere Arbeiten von William Merritt Chase erzielen. Den höchsten von uns bisher beobachteten Preis erreichte die Arbeit I Think I Am Ready Now (The Mirror, The Pink Dress) im Mai 2008 mit einem Auktionsergebnis von USD 6.649.000,00 (€ 4.273.136,25).
