In February 2019 Sothebys in London held the auction The Fine Art Society: 142 Years on New Bond Street, which included the work The Young Sailor by William McTaggart. The »bidding war« ended at GBP 23,750.00 (€ 27,705.20), 58% above the upper estimate. Admittedly, works by William McTaggart have also been auctioned for a multiple of this price - according to our records, the highest result so far was achieved by the work The Past And The Present in August 2008 with an auction result of GBP 133,250.00 (€ 165,234.00).
Oberer Schätzpreis um 58 % übertroffen
Im Februar 2019 führte Sothebys in London die Auktion The Fine Art Society: 142 Years on New Bond Street durch, in der auch die Arbeit The Young Sailor von William McTaggart zur Versteigerung kam. Das »Bietergefecht« endete beim Preis von GBP 23.750,00 (€ 27.705,20) und damit 58% über dem oberen Schätzpreis. Freilich wurden Arbeiten von William McTaggart auch schon für ein Vielfaches dieses Preises versteigert – das bisher höchste Ergebnis erzielte nach unseren Aufzeichnungen die Arbeit The Past And The Present im August 2008 mit einem Auktionsergebnis von GBP 133.250,00 (€ 165.234,00).
