Auction result misses estimated price range
In March 2004 a collector was able to acquire the work Awaiting her loves return by William Maw Egley for GBP 3,585.00 (€ 5,366.42). This price was achieved in the auction British and Victorian including Scottish Paintings at Christies in London and was even below the estimate range of GBP 4,000.00 – 6,000.00 set by the auction house. Admittedly, works by William Maw Egley have also been auctioned for a multiple of this price - according to our records, the highest result so far was achieved by the work Catherine of Aragon in June 2002 with an auction result of GBP 20,315.00 (€ 31,422.70).
Auktionsergebnis verfehlt die Schätzpreisspanne
Im März 2004 konnte ein Sammler die Arbeit Awaiting her loves return von William Maw Egley für GBP 3.585,00 (€ 5.366,42) erwerben. Dieser Preis wurde in der Auktion British and Victorian including Scottish Paintings bei Christies in London erzielt und lag noch unterhalb der von dem Auktionshaus angesetzten Schätzpreisspanne von GBP 4.000,00 – 6.000,00. Freilich wurden Arbeiten von William Maw Egley auch schon für ein Vielfaches dieses Preises versteigert – das bisher höchste Ergebnis erzielte nach unseren Aufzeichnungen die Arbeit Catherine of Aragon im Juni 2002 mit einem Auktionsergebnis von GBP 20.315,00 (€ 31.422,70).
