This artwork by William Maw Egley achieved an unexpectedly high price at Christies in London in July 2007. In the Portrait Miniatures, Objects of Vertu, Silver & Plate auction, the work Unknown sold for GBP 1,200.00 (€ 1,782.28) - well above the upper estimate of GBP 600.00. Of course, this price has nothing to do with the top prices that other works by William Maw Egley achieve. The highest price we have observed so far was reached by the work Catherine of Aragon in June 2002 with an auction result of GBP 20,315.00 (€ 31,422.70).

Dieses Kunstwerk von William Maw Egley erzielte im Juli 2007 bei Christies in London einen unerwartet hohen Preis. In der Auktion Portrait Miniatures, Objects of Vertu, Silver & Plate wurde die Arbeit Unknown für GBP 1.200,00 (€ 1.782,28) versteigert – und damit weit über dem oberen Schätzpreis von GBP 600,00. Dieser Preis hat freilich nichts mit den Spitzenpreisen zu tun, die andere Arbeiten von William Maw Egley erzielen. Den höchsten von uns bisher beobachteten Preis erreichte die Arbeit Catherine of Aragon im Juni 2002 mit einem Auktionsergebnis von GBP 20.315,00 (€ 31.422,70).
