This artwork by William Maw Egley achieved an unexpectedly high price at Christies in London in December 2002. In the OBJECTS OF VERTU, PORTRAIT MINIATURES AND ICONS auction, the work A young girl, in a white shift, her fair hair long and wavy sold for GBP 1,116.25 (€ 1,713.50) - well above the upper estimate of GBP 600.00.
