This artwork by William Maw Egley achieved an unexpectedly high price at Christies in London in December 2002. In the OBJECTS OF VERTU, PORTRAIT MINIATURES AND ICONS auction, the work A young girl, in a white shift, her fair hair long and wavy sold for GBP 1,116.25 (€ 1,713.50) - well above the upper estimate of GBP 600.00. Of course, this price has nothing to do with the top prices that other works by William Maw Egley achieve. The highest price we have observed so far was reached by the work Catherine of Aragon in June 2002 with an auction result of GBP 20,315.00 (€ 31,422.70).

In der Auktion OBJECTS OF VERTU, PORTRAIT MINIATURES AND ICONS wurde die Arbeit A young girl, in a white shift, her fair hair long and wavy für GBP 1.116,25 (€ 1.713,50) versteigert – und damit weit über dem oberen Schätzpreis von GBP 600,00.
