Auction result well in line with expectations
In September 2019 Sothebys in New York held the auction American Art, which included the work Cabin Scene by William Aiken Walker. The estimated price for the artwork was previously given by the auction house with a range of USD 8,000.00 – 12,000.00, the actual price achieved of USD 8,750.00 (€ 8,023.84) could thus just exceed the lower estimate. Of course, this price has nothing to do with the top prices that other works by William Aiken Walker achieve. The highest price we have observed so far was reached by the work Big B Cotton Plantation in November 2017 with an auction result of USD 648,500.00 (€ 545,049.59).
Auktionsergebnis im Rahmen der Erwartungen
Im September 2019 führte Sothebys in New York die Auktion American Art durch, in der auch die Arbeit Cabin Scene von William Aiken Walker zur Versteigerung kam. Der Schätzpreis für das Kunstwerk wurde von dem Auktionshaus zuvor mit einer Spanne von USD 8.000,00 – 12.000,00 angegeben, der tatsächlich erzielte Preis von USD 8.750,00 (€ 8.023,84) konnte den unteren Schätzpreis somit knapp übertreffen. Dieser Preis hat freilich nichts mit den Spitzenpreisen zu tun, die andere Arbeiten von William Aiken Walker erzielen. Den höchsten von uns bisher beobachteten Preis erreichte die Arbeit Big B Cotton Plantation im November 2017 mit einem Auktionsergebnis von USD 648.500,00 (€ 545.049,59).
