Auction result well in line with expectations
In May last year Sothebys in New York held the auction The American Scene including Important Photographs from the Helene Wurlitzer Foundation, which included the work Cotton Picking by William Aiken Walker. The price achieved of USD 10,080.00 (€ 9,393.35) was within expectations - the estimate range had previously been set by the auction house as USD 8,000.00 – 12,000.00. Of course, this price has nothing to do with the top prices that other works by William Aiken Walker achieve. The highest price we have observed so far was reached by the work Big B Cotton Plantation in November 2017 with an auction result of USD 648,500.00 (€ 545,049.59).
