In September this year Bonhams in New York held the auction American Art | Bonhams Skinner, which included the work Man with a Basket of Cotton by William Aiken Walker. The »bidding war« ended at USD 6,400.00 (€ 6,046.86), 28% above the upper estimate. Of course, this price has nothing to do with the top prices that other works by William Aiken Walker achieve. The highest price we have observed so far was reached by the work Big B Cotton Plantation in November 2017 with an auction result of USD 648,500.00 (€ 545,049.59).

Im September diesen Jahres führte Bonhams in New York die Auktion American Art | Bonhams Skinner durch, in der auch die Arbeit Man with a Basket of Cotton von William Aiken Walker zur Versteigerung kam. Das »Bietergefecht« endete beim Preis von USD 6.400,00 (€ 6.046,86) und damit 28% über dem oberen Schätzpreis. Dieser Preis hat freilich nichts mit den Spitzenpreisen zu tun, die andere Arbeiten von William Aiken Walker erzielen. Den höchsten von uns bisher beobachteten Preis erreichte die Arbeit Big B Cotton Plantation im November 2017 mit einem Auktionsergebnis von USD 648.500,00 (€ 545.049,59).
