In July 2016 Sothebys in London held the auction Old Masters Day Sale, which included the work Still Life Of Roses, A Carnation And A Sunflower In A Glass Vase, On A Marble Ledge by Willem van Aelst. The »bidding war« ended at GBP 43,750.00 (€ 51,984.46), 46% above the upper estimate. Of course, this price has nothing to do with the top prices that other works by Willem van Aelst achieve. The highest price we have observed so far was reached by the work Still life with grapes in a basket, peaches on a silver dish, medlars, two butterflies, a fly and a snail, all on a red velvet cloth over a partially draped ledge in January 2021 with an auction result of USD 1,230,000.00 (€ 1,013,597.03).
Oberer Schätzpreis um 46 % übertroffen
Im Juli 2016 führte Sothebys in London die Auktion Old Masters Day Sale durch, in der auch die Arbeit Still Life Of Roses, A Carnation And A Sunflower In A Glass Vase, On A Marble Ledge von Willem van Aelst zur Versteigerung kam. Das »Bietergefecht« endete beim Preis von GBP 43.750,00 (€ 51.984,46) und damit 46% über dem oberen Schätzpreis. Dieser Preis hat freilich nichts mit den Spitzenpreisen zu tun, die andere Arbeiten von Willem van Aelst erzielen. Den höchsten von uns bisher beobachteten Preis erreichte die Arbeit Still life with grapes in a basket, peaches on a silver dish, medlars, two butterflies, a fly and a snail, all on a red velvet cloth over a partially draped ledge im Januar 2021 mit einem Auktionsergebnis von USD 1.230.000,00 (€ 1.013.597,03).
