Auction result well in line with expectations
The work Still Life With Peaches And Grapes On A Pewter Plate, With A Walnut, And A Glass Roemer, All On A Draped Table by Willem van Aelst was sold in the Old Masters Day Sale auction at Sothebys in London in July 2017. The price achieved of GBP 33,750.00 (€ 37,659.82) was within expectations - the estimate range had previously been set by the auction house as GBP 30,000.00 – 40,000.00. Of course, this price has nothing to do with the top prices that other works by Willem van Aelst achieve. The highest price we have observed so far was reached by the work Still life with grapes in a basket, peaches on a silver dish, medlars, two butterflies, a fly and a snail, all on a red velvet cloth over a partially draped ledge in January 2021 with an auction result of USD 1,230,000.00 (€ 1,013,597.03).
