The work A Still Life With Peaches, Raspberries And Damsons On A Partially Covered Marble Ledge, A Bird Flying Above by Willem van Aelst was auctioned at Sothebys in London in December 2011. It achieved a price of GBP 61,250.00 (€ 73,355.53), exceeding the upper end of the estimate range by 53%. Of course, this price has nothing to do with the top prices that other works by Willem van Aelst achieve. The highest price we have observed so far was reached by the work Still life with grapes in a basket, peaches on a silver dish, medlars, two butterflies, a fly and a snail, all on a red velvet cloth over a partially draped ledge in January 2021 with an auction result of USD 1,230,000.00 (€ 1,013,597.03).
