Auction result well in line with expectations
In January 2024 Christies in New York held the auction Old Masters, which included the work A bouquet with a sunflower, roses, an iris, tulips, carnations and a camellia in a gilt mounted vase, with insects on a marble tabletop by Willem van Aelst. It changed hands for a price of USD 239,400.00 (€ 209,229.16) achieving a result in the upper range of the estimate price range of USD 150,000.00 – 250,000.00. Admittedly, works by Willem van Aelst have also been auctioned for a multiple of this price - according to our records, the highest result so far was achieved by the work Still life with grapes in a basket, peaches on a silver dish, medlars, two butterflies, a fly and a snail, all on a red velvet cloth over a partially draped ledge in January 2021 with an auction result of USD 1,230,000.00 (€ 1,013,597.03).
Auktionsergebnis im Rahmen der Erwartungen
Im Januar 2024 führte Christies in New York die Auktion Old Masters durch, in der auch die Arbeit A bouquet with a sunflower, roses, an iris, tulips, carnations and a camellia in a gilt mounted vase, with insects on a marble tabletop von Willem van Aelst zur Versteigerung kam. Dabei wechselte sie für einen Preis von USD 239.400,00 (€ 209.229,16) den Besitzer und erzielte damit ein Ergebnis im oberen Bereich der Schätzpreisspanne von USD 150.000,00 – 250.000,00. Freilich wurden Arbeiten von Willem van Aelst auch schon für ein Vielfaches dieses Preises versteigert – das bisher höchste Ergebnis erzielte nach unseren Aufzeichnungen die Arbeit Still life with grapes in a basket, peaches on a silver dish, medlars, two butterflies, a fly and a snail, all on a red velvet cloth over a partially draped ledge im Januar 2021 mit einem Auktionsergebnis von USD 1.230.000,00 (€ 1.013.597,03).
