Auction result misses estimated price range
When the work Rain by Will Cotton was auctioned at Phillips in New York in May 2011, the result was somewhat disappointing. The auction house had previously given the estimated price as a range of USD 8,000.00 – 12,000.00, of which not even the lower limit was reached - in fact, the artwork changed hands for USD 7,500.00 (€ 5,217.03). Of course, this price has nothing to do with the top prices that other works by Will Cotton achieve. The highest price we have observed so far was reached by the work Taffy Forest in September 2012 with an auction result of USD 272,500.00 (€ 211,963.29).
Auktionsergebnis verfehlt die Schätzpreisspanne
Als die Arbeit Rain von Will Cotton im Mai 2011 bei Phillips in New York versteigert wurde, fiel das Ergebnis ein wenig enttäuschend aus. Das Auktionshaus hatte den Schätzpreis zuvor mit einer Spanne von USD 8.000,00 – 12.000,00 angegeben, von der nicht einmal die Untergrenze erreicht wurde - tatsächlich wechselte das Kunstwerk für USD 7.500,00 (€ 5.217,03) den Besitzer. Dieser Preis hat freilich nichts mit den Spitzenpreisen zu tun, die andere Arbeiten von Will Cotton erzielen. Den höchsten von uns bisher beobachteten Preis erreichte die Arbeit Taffy Forest im September 2012 mit einem Auktionsergebnis von USD 272.500,00 (€ 211.963,29).
