This artwork by Wenda Gu achieved an unexpectedly high price at Christies in Shanghai in April 2014. In the Asian and Western 20th Century and Contemporary Art auction, the work Silk Road (Form A:a-2) sold for CNY 930,000.00 (€ 107,281.90) - well above the upper estimate of CNY 480,000.00. However, buyers have had to dig much deeper into their pockets for other works by Wenda Gu - we have observed the highest auction result to date for the work Drama Of Two Culture Formats Merge C1-C3 (Three Works) , which sold at auction in April 2012 for HKD 3,980,000.00 (€ 387,801.04).
