Auction result misses estimated price range
When the work Room with the View by Wei Dong was auctioned at Phillips in an online auction in December 2018, the result was somewhat disappointing. The auction house had previously given the estimated price as a range of USD 5,000.00 – 7,000.00, of which not even the lower limit was reached - in fact, the artwork changed hands for USD 4,063.00 (€ 3,546.61). Of course, this price has nothing to do with the top prices that other works by Wei Dong achieve. The highest price we have observed so far was reached by the work Wanna Fly in May 2013 with an auction result of HKD 375,000.00 (€ 37,188.17).
Auktionsergebnis verfehlt die Schätzpreisspanne
Als die Arbeit Room with the View von Wei Dong im Dezember 2018 bei Phillips in einer Online-Auktion versteigert wurde, fiel das Ergebnis ein wenig enttäuschend aus. Das Auktionshaus hatte den Schätzpreis zuvor mit einer Spanne von USD 5.000,00 – 7.000,00 angegeben, von der nicht einmal die Untergrenze erreicht wurde - tatsächlich wechselte das Kunstwerk für USD 4.063,00 (€ 3.546,61) den Besitzer. Dieser Preis hat freilich nichts mit den Spitzenpreisen zu tun, die andere Arbeiten von Wei Dong erzielen. Den höchsten von uns bisher beobachteten Preis erreichte die Arbeit Wanna Fly im Mai 2013 mit einem Auktionsergebnis von HKD 375.000,00 (€ 37.188,17).
