Artwork auctioned at three times the upper estimate price
The work Idol 1 by Wei Dong was worth HKD 100,800.00 (€ 11,096.77) to a buyer in September 2020. This price was achieved in the auction Contemporary Art | Hong Kong at Sothebys in Hong Kong and exceeded the previously set upper estimate of HKD 30,000.00 many times over. However, buyers have had to dig much deeper into their pockets for other works by Wei Dong - we have observed the highest auction result to date for the work Wanna Fly, which sold at auction in May 2013 for HKD 375,000.00 (€ 37,188.17).

Die Arbeit Idol 1 von Wei Dong war einem Käufer im September 2020 HKD 100.800,00 (€ 11.096,77) wert. Dieser Preise wurde in der Auktion Contemporary Art | Hong Kong bei Sothebys in Hong Kong erzielt und übertraf den zuvor angesetzten oberen Schätzpreis von HKD 30.000,00 um ein Vielfaches. Für andere Arbeiten von Wei Dong mussten die Käufer allerdings auch schon deutlich tiefer in die Tasche greifen – das bisher höchste Auktionsergebnis haben wir für die Arbeit Wanna Fly beobachtet, die im Mai 2013 für HKD 375.000,00 (€ 37.188,17) versteigert wurde.
