This artwork by Wei Dong achieved an unexpectedly high price at Sothebys in Hong Kong in April 2020. In the Contemporary Art | Hong Kong auction, the work Idol No. 2 sold for HKD 100,000.00 (€ 11,775.45) - well above the upper estimate of HKD 50,000.00. However, buyers have had to dig much deeper into their pockets for other works by Wei Dong - we have observed the highest auction result to date for the work Wanna Fly, which sold at auction in May 2013 for HKD 375,000.00 (€ 37,188.17).
Oberer Schätzpreis um 100 % übertroffen
Dieses Kunstwerk von Wei Dong erzielte im April 2020 bei Sothebys in Hong Kong einen unerwartet hohen Preis. In der Auktion Contemporary Art | Hong Kong wurde die Arbeit Idol No. 2 für HKD 100.000,00 (€ 11.775,45) versteigert – und damit weit über dem oberen Schätzpreis von HKD 50.000,00. Für andere Arbeiten von Wei Dong mussten die Käufer allerdings auch schon deutlich tiefer in die Tasche greifen – das bisher höchste Auktionsergebnis haben wir für die Arbeit Wanna Fly beobachtet, die im Mai 2013 für HKD 375.000,00 (€ 37.188,17) versteigert wurde.
