Renowned internationally for combining calligraphy practice, performance and installation art, Wang Dongling received traditional calligraphy training and was an apprentice of calligrapher Lin Sanzhi. Auction result misses estimated price range
This work of art by Wang Dongling could be acquired at Christies in New York in December 2020 for an unexpectedly low price. In the Chinese Paintings Online: Modern Masters auction, the work Abstract changed hands for USD 9,375.00 (€ 7,665.58) - missing the lower end of the estimate range of USD 12,000.00 – 22,000.00. Of course, this price has nothing to do with the top prices that other works by Wang Dongling achieve. The highest price we have observed so far was reached by the work Harmonious Opposition in April 2016 with an auction result of HKD 875,000.00 (€ 98,581.85).
Auktionsergebnis verfehlt die Schätzpreisspanne
Dieses Kunstwerk von Wang Dongling konnte im Dezember 2020 bei Christies in New York für einen unerwartet niedrigen Preis ersteigert werden. In der Auktion Chinese Paintings Online: Modern Masters wechselte die Arbeit Abstract für USD 9.375,00 (€ 7.665,58) den Besitzer – und verfehlte damit das untere Ende der Schätzpreisspanne von USD 12.000,00 – 22.000,00. Dieser Preis hat freilich nichts mit den Spitzenpreisen zu tun, die andere Arbeiten von Wang Dongling erzielen. Den höchsten von uns bisher beobachteten Preis erreichte die Arbeit Harmonious Opposition im April 2016 mit einem Auktionsergebnis von HKD 875.000,00 (€ 98.581,85).
