Auction result misses estimated price range

When this work without title by Wade Guyton was auctioned at Christies in New York in November this year, the result was somewhat disappointing. The auction house had previously given the estimated price as a range of USD 500,000.00 – 700,000.00, of which not even the lower limit was reached - in fact, the artwork changed hands for USD 441,000.00 (€ 404,290.43). Of course, this price has nothing to do with the top prices that other works by Wade Guyton achieve. The highest price we have observed so far was reached by the work without title in May 2014 with an auction result of USD 5,989,000.00 (€ 4,390,762.46).

Auktionsergebnis verfehlt die Schätzpreisspanne

Als diese Arbeit ohne Titel von Wade Guyton im November diesen Jahres bei Christies in New York versteigert wurde, fiel das Ergebnis ein wenig enttäuschend aus. Das Auktionshaus hatte den Schätzpreis zuvor mit einer Spanne von USD 500.000,00 – 700.000,00 angegeben, von der nicht einmal die Untergrenze erreicht wurde - tatsächlich wechselte das Kunstwerk für USD 441.000,00 (€ 404.290,43) den Besitzer. Dieser Preis hat freilich nichts mit den Spitzenpreisen zu tun, die andere Arbeiten von Wade Guyton erzielen. Den höchsten von uns bisher beobachteten Preis erreichte die Arbeit ohne Titel im Mai 2014 mit einem Auktionsergebnis von USD 5.989.000,00 (€ 4.390.762,46).
