Auction result well in line with expectations
In June 2012 Sothebys in New York held the auction Contemporary Art, which included this untitled work by Vlassis Caniaris. The estimated price for the artwork was previously given by the auction house with a range of USD 12,000.00 – 18,000.00, the actual price achieved of USD 12,500.00 (€ 9,867.38) could thus just exceed the lower estimate. Admittedly, works by Vlassis Caniaris have also been auctioned for a multiple of this price - according to our records, the highest result so far was achieved by the work Greek Hommage Aux Murs D'Athènes in May 2009 with an auction result of GBP 55,250.00 (€ 63,205.44).
Auktionsergebnis im Rahmen der Erwartungen
Im Juni 2012 führte Sothebys in New York die Auktion Contemporary Art durch, in der auch diese Arbeit ohne Titel von Vlassis Caniaris zur Versteigerung kam. Der Schätzpreis für das Kunstwerk wurde von dem Auktionshaus zuvor mit einer Spanne von USD 12.000,00 – 18.000,00 angegeben, der tatsächlich erzielte Preis von USD 12.500,00 (€ 9.867,38) konnte den unteren Schätzpreis somit knapp übertreffen. Freilich wurden Arbeiten von Vlassis Caniaris auch schon für ein Vielfaches dieses Preises versteigert – das bisher höchste Ergebnis erzielte nach unseren Aufzeichnungen die Arbeit Greek Hommage Aux Murs D'Athènes im Mai 2009 mit einem Auktionsergebnis von GBP 55.250,00 (€ 63.205,44).
