In October 2002 Christies in New York held the auction Important Silver, Objects of Vertu and Russian Works of Art, which included the work Portrait of Emmanuel Nobel (1859-1932) by Valentin Serov. The »bidding war« ended at USD 240,500.00 (€ 243,396.42), 50% above the upper estimate. Admittedly, works by Valentin Serov have also been auctioned for a multiple of this price - according to our records, the highest result so far was achieved by the work Portrait Of Praskovia Anatolievna Mamontova in November 2012 with an auction result of GBP 1,217,250.00 (€ 1,499,528.50).
Oberer Schätzpreis um 50 % übertroffen
Im Oktober 2002 führte Christies in New York die Auktion Important Silver, Objects of Vertu and Russian Works of Art durch, in der auch die Arbeit Portrait of Emmanuel Nobel (1859-1932) von Valentin Serov zur Versteigerung kam. Das »Bietergefecht« endete beim Preis von USD 240.500,00 (€ 243.396,42) und damit 50% über dem oberen Schätzpreis. Freilich wurden Arbeiten von Valentin Serov auch schon für ein Vielfaches dieses Preises versteigert – das bisher höchste Ergebnis erzielte nach unseren Aufzeichnungen die Arbeit Portrait Of Praskovia Anatolievna Mamontova im November 2012 mit einem Auktionsergebnis von GBP 1.217.250,00 (€ 1.499.528,50).
