This artwork by Valentin Serov achieved an unexpectedly high price at Sothebys in London in November 2013. In the Important Russian Art auction, the work Portrait Of A Lady Said To Be Maria Vasilievna Yakunchikova sold for GBP 830,500.00 (€ 999,395.60) - well above the upper estimate of GBP 300,000.00. Despite this good result, it is not the highest hammer price for an artwork by Valentin Serov; that achieved among the auctions we observed the lot Portrait Of Praskovia Anatolievna Mamontova sold at auction in November 2012 with the realized price of GBP 1,217,250.00 (€ 1,499,528.50).
