This artwork by Utagawa Sadahide achieved an unexpectedly high price at Christies in London in November 2019. In the China Trade Paintings: Selections from the Kelton Collection auction, the work Western traders at Yokohama transporting merchandise (Yokohama Koeki seiyojin nomotsu unso no zu) sold for GBP 13,750.00 (€ 16,145.86) - well above the upper estimate of GBP 5,000.00. Despite this good result, it is not the highest hammer price for an artwork by Utagawa Sadahide; that achieved among the auctions we observed the lot Yokohama koeki seiyojin kamotsu unso no zu (A view of Western traders transporting merchandise at Yokohama) sold at auction in September 2002 with the realized price of USD 17,925.00 (€ 18,144.55).
Oberer Schätzpreis um mehr als 100% übertroffen
