This artwork by Utagawa Sadahide achieved an unexpectedly high price at Sothebys in London in May 2021. In the Japanese Woodblock Prints | Including the Sokolov Collection auction, the work Act I: On the Banks of the Kamo River sold for GBP 756.00 (€ 879.62) - well above the upper estimate of GBP 300.00. Of course, this price has nothing to do with the top prices that other works by Utagawa Sadahide achieve. The highest price we have observed so far was reached by the work Yokohama koeki seiyojin kamotsu unso no zu (A view of Western traders transporting merchandise at Yokohama) in September 2002 with an auction result of USD 17,925.00 (€ 18,144.55).
Oberer Schätzpreis um mehr als 100% übertroffen
Dieses Kunstwerk von Utagawa Sadahide erzielte im Mai 2021 bei Sothebys in London einen unerwartet hohen Preis. In der Auktion Japanese Woodblock Prints | Including the Sokolov Collection wurde die Arbeit Act I: On the Banks of the Kamo River für GBP 756,00 (€ 879,62) versteigert – und damit weit über dem oberen Schätzpreis von GBP 300,00. Dieser Preis hat freilich nichts mit den Spitzenpreisen zu tun, die andere Arbeiten von Utagawa Sadahide erzielen. Den höchsten von uns bisher beobachteten Preis erreichte die Arbeit Yokohama koeki seiyojin kamotsu unso no zu (A view of Western traders transporting merchandise at Yokohama) im September 2002 mit einem Auktionsergebnis von USD 17.925,00 (€ 18.144,55).
