In December 2021 Sothebys in London held the auction Fine Japanese Prints, which included the work Operating the Giant Puppet in the Grounds of Asakusa Kinryuzan (Asakusa Kinryuzan keidai ni oite oningyo zenmai shikake no zu) by Utagawa Sadahide. The »bidding war« ended at GBP 3,024.00 (€ 3,607.00), 51% above the upper estimate. Admittedly, works by Utagawa Sadahide have also been auctioned for a multiple of this price - according to our records, the highest result so far was achieved by the work Yokohama koeki seiyojin kamotsu unso no zu (A view of Western traders transporting merchandise at Yokohama) in September 2002 with an auction result of USD 17,925.00 (€ 18,144.55).
Oberer Schätzpreis um 51 % übertroffen
Im Dezember 2021 führte Sothebys in London die Auktion Fine Japanese Prints durch, in der auch die Arbeit Operating the Giant Puppet in the Grounds of Asakusa Kinryuzan (Asakusa Kinryuzan keidai ni oite oningyo zenmai shikake no zu) von Utagawa Sadahide zur Versteigerung kam. Das »Bietergefecht« endete beim Preis von GBP 3.024,00 (€ 3.607,00) und damit 51% über dem oberen Schätzpreis. Freilich wurden Arbeiten von Utagawa Sadahide auch schon für ein Vielfaches dieses Preises versteigert – das bisher höchste Ergebnis erzielte nach unseren Aufzeichnungen die Arbeit Yokohama koeki seiyojin kamotsu unso no zu (A view of Western traders transporting merchandise at Yokohama) im September 2002 mit einem Auktionsergebnis von USD 17.925,00 (€ 18.144,55).
