The work Unknown by Utagawa Sadahide was sold in the Japanese Art and Design auction at Christies in London in July 2005. The »bidding war« ended at GBP 1,920.00 (€ 2,784.94), 28% above the upper estimate. Admittedly, works by Utagawa Sadahide have also been auctioned for a multiple of this price - according to our records, the highest result so far was achieved by the work Yokohama koeki seiyojin kamotsu unso no zu (A view of Western traders transporting merchandise at Yokohama) in September 2002 with an auction result of USD 17,925.00 (€ 18,144.55).
Oberer Schätzpreis um 28 % übertroffen
Die Arbeit Unknown von Utagawa Sadahide wurde im Juli 2005 in der Auktion Japanese Art and Design bei Christies in London versteigert. Das »Bietergefecht« endete beim Preis von GBP 1.920,00 (€ 2.784,94) und damit 28% über dem oberen Schätzpreis. Freilich wurden Arbeiten von Utagawa Sadahide auch schon für ein Vielfaches dieses Preises versteigert – das bisher höchste Ergebnis erzielte nach unseren Aufzeichnungen die Arbeit Yokohama koeki seiyojin kamotsu unso no zu (A view of Western traders transporting merchandise at Yokohama) im September 2002 mit einem Auktionsergebnis von USD 17.925,00 (€ 18.144,55).
