This artwork by Utagawa Kuniyoshi achieved an unexpectedly high price at Bruun Rasmussen in August this year. In the Paintings, furniture and varia auction, the work Two Japanese woodblock prints, one with woman in boat, possibly part of triptyc, sealmark for Utagawa Kuniyoshi, the other unknown artist depicting an actor sold for DKK 4,400.00 (€ 590.24) - well above the estimate of DKK 2,000.00. Of course, this price has nothing to do with the top prices that other works by Utagawa Kuniyoshi achieve. The highest price we have observed so far was reached by the work Mitsukuni Defying The Skeleton Spectre Conjured Up By Princess Takiyasha (Souma No Furudairi Yokai Ga Shadokuro To Tatakau Oya Notarou Mitsukuni) in November 2019 with an auction result of GBP 200,000.00 (€ 234,848.90).

Dieser Preis hat freilich nichts mit den Spitzenpreisen zu tun, die andere Arbeiten von Utagawa Kuniyoshi erzielen.
