Upper estimated price slightly exceeded
In November this year Bonhams held the auction Japan-Mania (Online-only), which included the work Shin Yoshiwara from the set of ten prints Toto meisho (Famous Views of the Eastern Capital) by Utagawa Kuniyoshi. Here, the upper estimate of GBP 5,000.00 was slightly exceeded - the artwork found a new owner for GBP 5,120.00 (€ 5,932.97). Of course, this price has nothing to do with the top prices that other works by Utagawa Kuniyoshi achieve. The highest price we have observed so far was reached by the work Mitsukuni Defying The Skeleton Spectre Conjured Up By Princess Takiyasha (Souma No Furudairi Yokai Ga Shadokuro To Tatakau Oya Notarou Mitsukuni) in November 2019 with an auction result of GBP 200,000.00 (€ 234,848.90).
