Auction result well in line with expectations
In November this year Bonhams held the auction Japan-Mania (Online-only), which included the work Omi Kotoda, Yawata Saburo from the series Kisokaido rokujukyu tsugi (69 Stations on the Kisokaido Road) by Utagawa Kuniyoshi. The price achieved of GBP 832.00 (€ 964.11) was within expectations - the estimate range had previously been set by the auction house as GBP 700.00 – 900.00. Of course, this price has nothing to do with the top prices that other works by Utagawa Kuniyoshi achieve. The highest price we have observed so far was reached by the work Mitsukuni Defying The Skeleton Spectre Conjured Up By Princess Takiyasha (Souma No Furudairi Yokai Ga Shadokuro To Tatakau Oya Notarou Mitsukuni) in November 2019 with an auction result of GBP 200,000.00 (€ 234,848.90).
