Auction result misses estimated price range
In August 2008 a collector was able to acquire the work Australian two Portraits Of Joseph Welch And Mary Anne Welch by Tom Roberts for AUD 8,400.00 (€ 4,903.48). This price was achieved in the auction Important Australian Art at Sothebys in Melbourne and was even below the estimate range of AUD 18,000.00 – 25,000.00 set by the auction house. Of course, this price has nothing to do with the top prices that other works by Tom Roberts achieve. The highest price we have observed so far was reached by the work Australian shearing Shed, Newstead in August 2008 with an auction result of AUD 300,000.00 (€ 175,124.41).
