In May 2009 Sothebys in Melbourne held the auction The Ken and Rona Eastaugh Collection, which included the work Australian The Eyrie by Tom Roberts. The »bidding war« ended at AUD 34,800.00 (€ 19,691.09), 74% above the upper estimate. Admittedly, works by Tom Roberts have also been auctioned for a multiple of this price - according to our records, the highest result so far was achieved by the work Australian shearing Shed, Newstead in August 2008 with an auction result of AUD 300,000.00 (€ 175,124.41).

Im Mai 2009 führte Sothebys in Melbourne die Auktion The Ken and Rona Eastaugh Collection durch, in der auch die Arbeit Australian The Eyrie von Tom Roberts zur Versteigerung kam. Das »Bietergefecht« endete beim Preis von AUD 34.800,00 (€ 19.691,09) und damit 74% über dem oberen Schätzpreis. Freilich wurden Arbeiten von Tom Roberts auch schon für ein Vielfaches dieses Preises versteigert – das bisher höchste Ergebnis erzielte nach unseren Aufzeichnungen die Arbeit Australian shearing Shed, Newstead im August 2008 mit einem Auktionsergebnis von AUD 300.000,00 (€ 175.124,41).
