Upper estimate price exceeded by more than 100%
This artwork by Tiziano Vecellio achieved an unexpectedly high price at Christies in New York in January 2013. In the Renaissance auction, the work The Submersion Of Pharaoh'S Army In The Red Sea sold for USD 854,500.00 (€ 629,048.88) - well above the upper estimate of USD 350,000.00. Of course, this price has nothing to do with the top prices that other works by Tiziano Vecellio achieve. The highest price we have observed so far was reached by the work A Sacra Conversazione: The Madonna And Child With Saints Luke And Catherine Of Alexandria in January 2011 with an auction result of USD 16,882,500.00 (€ 12,309,515.13).
