Upper estimated price slightly exceeded
In October 2019 Christies in New York held the auction Old Master Paintings and Sculpture, which included the work The Agony in the Garden of Gethsemane by Tiziano Vecellio. The »bidding war« ended at USD 2,415,000.00 (€ 2,164,948.45), 21% above the upper estimate. Admittedly, works by Tiziano Vecellio have also been auctioned for a multiple of this price - according to our records, the highest result so far was achieved by the work A Sacra Conversazione: The Madonna And Child With Saints Luke And Catherine Of Alexandria in January 2011 with an auction result of USD 16,882,500.00 (€ 12,309,515.13).
Oberer Schätzpreis leicht übertroffen
Im Oktober 2019 führte Christies in New York die Auktion Old Master Paintings and Sculpture durch, in der auch die Arbeit The Agony in the Garden of Gethsemane von Tiziano Vecellio zur Versteigerung kam. Das »Bietergefecht« endete beim Preis von USD 2.415.000,00 (€ 2.164.948,45) und damit 21% über dem oberen Schätzpreis. Freilich wurden Arbeiten von Tiziano Vecellio auch schon für ein Vielfaches dieses Preises versteigert – das bisher höchste Ergebnis erzielte nach unseren Aufzeichnungen die Arbeit A Sacra Conversazione: The Madonna And Child With Saints Luke And Catherine Of Alexandria im Januar 2011 mit einem Auktionsergebnis von USD 16.882.500,00 (€ 12.309.515,13).
