Upper estimate price exceeded by 25 %.
The work Portrait of a young man, half-length, in blue coat and waistcoat with gold embroidery by Tilly Kettle was auctioned at Christies in London in July 2011. It achieved a price of GBP 10,000.00 (€ 11,476.50), exceeding the upper end of the estimate range by 25%. Of course, this price has nothing to do with the top prices that other works by Tilly Kettle achieve. The highest price we have observed so far was reached by the work Portrait of Umdat-ul-Umara and Amir-ul-Umara, the two sons of Nawab Muhammad Ali Khan of Arcot and the Carnatic, three-quarter-length, wearing embroidered costumes, plumed turbans and jewellery. in September 2000 with an auction result of GBP 124,750.00 (€ 208,744.85).
