Artwork auctioned at five times the upper estimate price
The work Portrait of a gentleman, a member of the Oman family, three-quarter-length, in a red suit, with a dog by Tilly Kettle was worth GBP 30,000.00 (€ 33,512.67) to a buyer in December 2020. This price was achieved in the auction Old Master Paintings & Sculpture Online at Christies in London and exceeded the previously set upper estimate of GBP 6,000.00 many times over. Admittedly, works by Tilly Kettle have also been auctioned for a multiple of this price - according to our records, the highest result so far was achieved by the work Portrait of Umdat-ul-Umara and Amir-ul-Umara, the two sons of Nawab Muhammad Ali Khan of Arcot and the Carnatic, three-quarter-length, wearing embroidered costumes, plumed turbans and jewellery. in September 2000 with an auction result of GBP 124,750.00 (€ 208,744.85).
