Auction result well in line with expectations
In May 2004 Christies in New York held the auction Important American Paintings, Drawings and Sculpture, which included the work Portrait of Mrs. C. Ford by Thomas Sully. It changed hands for a price of USD 57,360.00 (€ 46,950.97) achieving a result in the upper range of the estimate price range of USD 40,000.00 – 60,000.00. However, buyers have had to dig much deeper into their pockets for other works by Thomas Sully - we have observed the highest auction result to date for the work Portrait of Thomas Jefferson, which sold at auction in May 2003 for USD 209,100.00 (€ 177,715.45).
Auktionsergebnis im Rahmen der Erwartungen
Im Mai 2004 führte Christies in New York die Auktion Important American Paintings, Drawings and Sculpture durch, in der auch die Arbeit Portrait of Mrs. C. Ford von Thomas Sully zur Versteigerung kam. Dabei wechselte sie für einen Preis von USD 57.360,00 (€ 46.950,97) den Besitzer und erzielte damit ein Ergebnis im oberen Bereich der Schätzpreisspanne von USD 40.000,00 – 60.000,00. Für andere Arbeiten von Thomas Sully mussten die Käufer allerdings auch schon deutlich tiefer in die Tasche greifen – das bisher höchste Auktionsergebnis haben wir für die Arbeit Portrait of Thomas Jefferson beobachtet, die im Mai 2003 für USD 209.100,00 (€ 177.715,45) versteigert wurde.
