Die Arbeit Mr. and Mrs. Montgomery Blair: A Pair of Portraits von Thomas Sully kam im September 2008 bei Christies in New York zur Auktion. Sie erzielte dabei einen Preis von USD 40.000,00 (€ 28.407,07) und übertraf damit das obere Ende der Schätzpreisspanne um 60%. Freilich wurden Arbeiten von Thomas Sully auch schon für ein Vielfaches dieses Preises versteigert – das bisher höchste Ergebnis erzielte nach unseren Aufzeichnungen die Arbeit Portrait of Thomas Jefferson im Mai 2003 mit einem Auktionsergebnis von USD 209.100,00 (€ 177.715,45).
