Auction result well in line with expectations
The work The Orchard by Thomas Matthews Rooke was auctioned at Sothebys in London in December 2014. The estimated price for the artwork was previously given by the auction house with a range of GBP 5,000.00 – 7,000.00, the actual price achieved of GBP 5,250.00 (€ 6,758.49) could thus just exceed the lower estimate. Of course, this price has nothing to do with the top prices that other works by Thomas Matthews Rooke achieve. The highest price we have observed so far was reached by the work Clytie Turning Towards The Sun in December 2006 with an auction result of GBP 45,600.00 (€ 67,676.11).
