In September 2021 Christies held the auction An Aesthetic Odyssey: The Peter Rose and Albert Gallichan Collection, which included the work Herodias by Thomas Matthews Rooke. The result of GBP 4,000.00 (€ 4,654.06) was exactly at the lower end of the estimate range of GBP 4,000.00 – 6,000.00. Of course, this price has nothing to do with the top prices that other works by Thomas Matthews Rooke achieve. The highest price we have observed so far was reached by the work Clytie Turning Towards The Sun in December 2006 with an auction result of GBP 45,600.00 (€ 67,676.11).
Zuschlag beim unteren Schätzpreis
Im September 2021 führte Christies die Auktion An Aesthetic Odyssey: The Peter Rose and Albert Gallichan Collection durch, in der auch die Arbeit Herodias von Thomas Matthews Rooke zur Versteigerung kam. Das dabei erzielte Ergebnis von GBP 4.000,00 (€ 4.654,06) entsprach exakt dem unteren Ende der Schätzpreisspanne von GBP 4.000,00 – 6.000,00. Dieser Preis hat freilich nichts mit den Spitzenpreisen zu tun, die andere Arbeiten von Thomas Matthews Rooke erzielen. Den höchsten von uns bisher beobachteten Preis erreichte die Arbeit Clytie Turning Towards The Sun im Dezember 2006 mit einem Auktionsergebnis von GBP 45.600,00 (€ 67.676,11).
